General Terms and Conditions

Enrolment

Please complete an LSI enrolment form and send it to the school at which you intend to study or to your local agent.

On receipt of your enrolment form*, we will send you written confirmation of your course booking with an invoice for the total amount of the course and, if applicable, accommodation fees, and additional fees. We will send a visa support letter if required.

You are guaranteed a place once we have confirmed your booking in writing.

* For bookings to LSI Schools in New Zealand and the USA, a confirmation cannot be sent until we receive the registration fee. Additionally, if you wish to enrol at an LSI school in the USA you must send with your application form and fee a bank statement or letter of support (from the student’s own bank) showing proof of sufficient funds to cover all costs (tuition, accommodation and living expenses) during your projected stay. If the bank account is not the student’s own, both a bank statement and a letter of support are required.

At LSI Paris a deposit of 15% of the total fees must be paid at the time of booking.

Payment of fees

All fees must be paid in full 14* days before the course starts.

*For bookings to LSI Zurich, 15 % of the total amount is payable 30 days after receipt of the invoice. The remaining difference is to be paid 4 weeks before your course begins.

For bookings to schools in the USA, the school must receive a minimum payment of 4 weeks of your course and accommodation fees before we can send the I-20 form and your accommodation information.

Cancellation

Conditions in the event of cancellation vary from school to school:

LSI UK

Cancellations before your course begins
If we receive your written cancellation 14 days or more before your course commencement, all fees, minus a £100 administration fee will be refunded.
If we receive your cancellation less than 14 days before your course begins, we will charge you two weeks' tuition and one week's accommodation fees.

Cancellations after your course has started
Once your course has started you will not generally receive a refund. The only exceptions made are in the case of illness. You will be required to produce a medical certificate. These cancellation conditions are valid for LSI schools in the UK. For other destinations please check with the relevant LSI school.

LSI USA

LSI Canada

The registration fee of CD $100 is non-refundable
All cancellations, withdrawals or changes should be submitted in writing at least 2 weeks in advance and must be confirmed by LSI. There is a limit of one change per course.

Before Course Begins
Before the first day of a course, tuition fees can be refunded if LSI receives written notification of withdrawal within 7 days of payment being received.

Homestay

All cancellations, withdrawals or changes should be submitted in writing at least 4 weeks in advance and must be confirmed by LSI. Limit of one change per course.

LSI Brisbane

All bookings, cancellations, withdrawals or changes should be submitted in writing at least 2 weeks in advance and must be confirmed by LSI. Enrolment fees, accommodation placement fees and airport transfer charges are non-refundable. If your visa application is rejected, tuition fees and accommodation charges (if any) will be refunded in full. Requests for refunds must be made in writing within one month, giving full details of the reason for the refund request. Tuition fees will not be refunded after you have started the course. No refund is given if you withdraw voluntarily or are dismissed from the program for unsatisfactory attendance or behaviour, or if you are in breach of Australian Government regulations or the LSI Code of Conduct.

Accommodation :
For cancellation or withdrawal from accommodation arranged by LSI, at least one week’s notice must be given, or a charge equal to one week’s accommodation will apply.

LSI New Zealand

The registration fee is non-refundable.

Course Cancellation
Students enrolled for a course over 3 months may withdraw at any time within 7 days after the first day of the course booked.
These students are refunded, without deduction, so much of any payment, or of the sum of payments, made by the student to the establishment as a whole, in respect of enrolment at the establishment, as exceeds NZ$500 or 10 % (percent) of the amount of that payment or of the sum of those payments, whichever is the lesser.
Otherwise there are no refunds of tuition fees.

Homestay Cancellation
All cancellations, withdrawals or changes should be submitted in writing at least 2 weeks in advance and must be confirmed by LSI. Non confirmed withdrawals result in payment of two weeks homestay fee.

Change of Course
Students cannot change their course to a lower specification once the course has begun. The ISY course has set starting and finishing dates with no course changes permitted.

LSI Frankfurt

Cancellations before your course begins
If we receive your written cancellation 14 days or more before your course commencement, all fees will be refunded less the registration fee. If we receive your cancellation less than 14 days before your course begins, we will charge you two weeks’ tuition and one week’s accommodation fees.

Cancellations after your course has started

LSI Zurich

Cancellations can only be accepted in writing and must be sent by registered post. The date of delivery as printed on the envelope of the registered letter determines the period of notice to be applied. A client, who partially or totally cancels a course after it has begun, is not entitled to any refund. To cover the risk of cancellation, we recommend you take out a Cancellation Insurance. Please contact LSI Zurich for help with this.

Cancellation fees for courses cancelled more than two weeks before the course starts: 15 % of the total cost (Course, Accommodation, Transfer & Enrolment fees etc)
Cancellation fees for courses cancelled less than two weeks before the course starts: 40 % of the total costs (Course, Accommodation, Transfer & Enrolment fees etc)

LSI Paris

Cancellations before the course starts:
If we receive your written cancellation at least one week before the course starts you will receive a full refund. Cancellations received later than this will incur a cancellation fee equal to the cost of 1 week’s accommodation.

Cancellations after course starts:
You will receive a refund for any remaining full weeks.

LSI Coronado/ San José

Cancellations must be made in writing, by fax, or email. If we receive a cancellation no later than 8 days before the course is due to start, we shall reimburse the full amount minus bank charges if applicable, for tuition and accommodation. Cancellations after this time: A charge of 10 % of the total net price of tuition and accommodation will be made.

Minimum Age

The minimum age of acceptance is 16*.
Where a teenager programme is offered, the minimum age of acceptance is 14.
If you wish to stay in college accommodation where available, you must be 18 years or over.
*The minimum age for all students at LSI New York is 18.

Liability and Insurance

All students are strongly advised* to take out personal, medical and property insurance before travelling abroad. LSI, its Representatives and staff will not be liable for any loss, damages, illness or injuries to people or property, however these may occur unless such liability is legally imposed. It is the student’s responsibility to take out insurance against all such risks.

*All students studying in the USA are required to have accident and health insurance. LSI can provide such insurance for students at reasonable rates which vary with the length of your booking. If you do not wish to take this policy through LSI, please be prepared to present us with a copy of your insurance policy. Students studying at LSI Brisbane who hold a Student Visa (required for courses longer than 12 weeks) are required by the Australian Government to be covered by Overseas Student Health Cover. Non EU students at LSI Madrid and LSI Paris must have medical insurance. EU students should obtain an E-111 form.

Holidays

Application for a holiday in the middle of your course must be made to the school 14 days before commencement of the holiday. Holidays must be Monday to Sunday. At LSI schools in New Zealand and the USA, where a visa has been issued for the ISY course dates, no holidays are allowed until after the course has finished.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided from Sunday one day prior to course commencement until the Saturday following the end of the course. In the case of 9 day courses, your accommodation will be from Friday through to Sunday of the following week. Students who arrive early or leave late will be charged for the extra nights’ accommodation.
